In 1959 the Casstown Community Volunteer Fire Department was founded.
The fire department was located at 205 N. Main Street in Casstown where it operated for 50 years.
The Fire Department built a new station on State Route 55 in Casstown.
Over time our fire fighting force has reduced in size, so we are looking for fire fighters to serve the community. Granted, most of the time it is not a glamorous position, and you get various answers when a person is asked why they do it. You hear responses like “a desire to help”, “to give back to the community”, “it’s in my blood”, and “I’ve always wanted to be a fireman”. Regardless of what your why may be, please consider joining our ranks. We see that you become properly trained per State requirements and will not put you in a hazardous environment until you are ready. It is a challenging, physical and demanding job, but it can be very rewarding and satisfying. We do not get paid for our service, so it should be evident there is something in it that keeps us doing it.
Please put some thought into the offer to become a fire fighter. If there is any interest at all, feel free to call our Fire Department at (937) 339-1514. Or if you would like stop in and see us. We are at the station most Tuesday evenings, typically 6:30 to 9:00. If not in that time frame, any time you see a vehicle at the station stop and knock on the door. Any of us will gladly show you around and talk with you about firefighting. We would love to say to you, “Welcome Aboard”.
